Opportunity Zones
Choose Adams, Choose Opportunity
The Opportunity Zone program is a federal incentive that encourages long-term private investments in designated low-income communities by giving investors tax benefits for investing in real estate projects and operating businesses. Investors receive tax incentives in the form of deferral and elimination of state and federal capital gains taxes.
Adams County, the fifth-largest county in Colorado, serves over 500,000 residents and continues to grow. With its proximity to metro Denver and the recreational opportunities of the Rocky Mountains, the county’s economy is booming. The growth within Adams County has been planned with an eye on the future, with such important developments as Colorado Air and Space Port, an Amazon fulfillment center, Denver Premium Outlets, and Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center opening recently. With much of the land adjacent to Denver International Airport located in Adams County, a regional aerotropolis concept is in the works, giving the county a great plan to merge new development alongside the nine Opportunity Zones.
The Opportunity Zones program has been made permanent under recent federal legislation, providing a stable framework to attract long-term investment in economically distressed areas. These updates, including improved reporting and targeted incentives, help ensure investments benefit both businesses and residents. Additional guidance and updates will be shared as they become available.
